Visit to the Transportation Museum - Spencer, NC

We enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Transportation Museum in Spencer NC.  If only it had not been so scorching hot.  This first week of fall is unlike any I remember.  Taite and Caleb were super excited to ride on board Thomas.

While Caleb, Taite and Travis enjoyed the train ride, Andrea cools off with a slushy.

Owen was a super trooper....considering how hot it was.  The temperature rose in the mid 90's.  This was one of the hottest fall days I can remember.

Owen was all smiles.....and LOVE.  At 6 months he is a joy in every sense of the word.

Taite on the other hand confided he did not like one bit the magician.

The Vintage car exhibit was neat...Gas was once that cheap in the 60's.

Saying Goodbye to Owen

Time flies when you are having a good time.  This morning we spent a very short time at Andrea's before saying good bye.  She and Travis decided to take him once more to see the doctor since he has not been having as many wet diapers as he should.
Caleb loves his brother and was thrilled to hold him on his lap this morning.  He says he will protect Owen and Taite.
Can you see the family resemblance.  Owen looks like his two brothers.
Owen safe in his Caleb's lap. Such a precious moment.
After his bath...Owen lays content.  Mom and dad are concerned that he has not have many wet diapers....so....
...here he is all bundled up and looking so cute wearing the Pixie hat I made for him. He is going out again...to see the doctor. Travis said just to be sure.

Meeting Owen

I'm so glad we finally were able to meet our third grandson, Owen Luther.  Nothing can compare to holding a newborn baby.  Everyone says you can't spoil them when they are this young.  Owen loves to be held and goes to sleep soundly.  During the night like all newborns he is keeping mom and dad awake.  Today he had his 5 day check up and is doing great experiencing the normal stuff newborns go through as they adjust from being in the womb to being outside.

We got to spend a few hours with this 3 year old bundle of love, Taite while Andrea and Travis took Owen to his check up.  We also took Caleb to his school and got to see his classroom.  He was very excited to be at school today because they were having Pajama day.

Before picking Caleb from school me and Taite played outside with what he called his helicopter.

We enjoyed the outdoor play....then we took off to pick up Caleb.  As soon as I got in the car I smelled dog poop...Yuck....It was me.  I'll be more careful next time, if there is another next time on their back yard.  Look to the bottom right, I wonder if that was the poop I stepped on.

We had lunch at Wendy's after picking up Caleb and then came back to the hotel so I could change into my other shoes.  Let's just say that both Taite and Caleb were fascinated being in our hotel room.  Caleb said that he wanted to stay in our hotel until this coming Saturday (the day we leave).  It did not take them long to feel right at home.  It was difficult to convince them that it was time to go home.  I kept telling them that we had to leave so the cleaning ladies could come in and do their work.  It feels great to be loved by these two.

We are now back in the hotel (without the kids)...and I enjoyed a cup of coffee from this neat 1 cup coffee maker in our room.

Cliff is all worn out from the adventures with the grandkids and also not sleeping the well the night before. The flapping of the flag just outside our room kept him up. We changed rooms this afternoon.

Family Reunions are a Blessing

We have been enjoying Kevin's visit and look forward to spending time with him.  He will stay 45 days before he heads back to Germany.  The first pictures I took are a little grainy.  He looks very good and I'm thankful for God's faithfulness in keeping him well during his tour in Afghanistan.

Christmas 2006 in Ohio

This 2006 Christmas Season will be one I'll always remember. The reason, on this month my daughter was due to deliver our second grandbaby.

She and husband decided to wait until the birth of the baby to find out if they were having a boy or girl. For some reason I thought for sure she'd have a girl. I thought she would follow the same pattern established by my mother who first had a son, then a daughter. I also had a boy, then a girl. It was nice to be surprised, I must say.

On December 18 finally the mystery would be revealed. My daughter's labor occurred during the night, so I did not find out what she'd had until the morning of the 19th. My husband announced "She had a boy." Then came the wait to receive pictures by e-mail. The pictures came two days or so after baby arrived. Taite Ezekiel arrived before midnight weighing 6 lbs 7 oz, measuring 19.5 inches.

We arrived to my daughter's house on Christmas Eve and met our new grandbaby who is perfect in everyway; loves to cuddle, eats well loves being held. During this visit I took every advantage of holding him; we all know how fast babies grow, right? All of a sudden they leave this newborn stage.

It's a wonderful blessing to get this second chance to hold such a precious member of our family. Well done, Andrea and Travis. We're here to support you in our role as grandparents.

Great News Received - A New Grandson

My daughter's labor started sometime yesterday in the afternoon. What an exciting time. She has been so good keeping up to date with the latest developments. I am thankful for that since she is not in our town.

Travis's phone call came in before midnight with the birth announcement. I was asleep; in the morning I found out that Tate Ezekiel had made it's arrival...Mother and baby are doing well. Now we'll just have to wait a little before we can hold this bundle of blessing from the Lord.

I worked on a Welcome Card for Tate which will be sent this morning along with a gift for baby.

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

Boys are mad of chuckles & grins,

Tousled hair and banged-up shins,

Things with wheels & frogs in pockets

Questions, baseball caps, & rockets;

They're joy & mischief, fun & noise-

That's how it is – boys will be boys!
