Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful we had the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with Kevin.  He leaves next Thursday for Ramstein, Germany where he will be stationed for the next 3 years.  We have thoroughly enjoyed his visit and will miss him.

'Tis the Season for Dry Lips

Once the weather gets cold and humidity lowers, I make sure my chap stick is with me at all times.

This chap stick cozy can be clipped to any key chain, ready to sooth your lips when the need arises.

I made mine with worsted weight 100 percent cotton, but any acrylic yarn would work well.

Great idea for a stocking stuffer.

Here's the link to the pattern: chap stick cozy

Pixie Hats

I finally took time to make my Photography Light Box, also known as a Macro Box and loved the results.  These Pixie hats are my most recent Etsy listing.  This Pixie hat features a long braided tail which measures 10 inches.  This hat only comes in Newborn size due to the long tail.  I will probably make the same hat without the braided tail.

Newborn baby should not be left unattended.

This hat was worked using two strands of my favorite cotton yarn - I Love This Cotton -

This one was worked in the limited edition Christmas Ombre colorway.

Adult Versions of the Lacy Crochet and Newsboys Cap

So far I have only listed hats and caps in baby and child sizes.  This is the adult version of the Newsboy cap which I will launch soon on my Etsy shop.  This cap was made in Cascade Bulky weight and will keep you warm plus the visor works great to shield you from the bright sun. Andrea looks super cute in this cap.

Move the visor to the side for another fun look.  That's me during our recent visit to Williamston.   I was glad I had this hat with me during our visit to Cape May in New Jersey.  It was really cold and kept me warm as we walked the shopping areas.

This is Brittyn and she looks glamorous in the Lacy Crochet Hat.  Brittyn is Kim's daughter who teaches my Zumba class.

I Love This Yarn --Not the Tangling Mess

Found this I Love This Yarn - Super Soft...Super Savings! at Hobby Lobby.  251 yards for only $2.89 plus tax.  I proceeded to find the beginning end from the middle but you know the story...I pulled and tugged and a huge chunk came out....so what is there to love about this yarn....Ha...Ha...I'm sure I will love it once I see the design the mix print produces.  The color name is Mistletoe Ombre and the yarn weight is worsted...just what I need to make hats or maybe Christmas ornaments.

Cocoons Delight Photographers and Babies Too

My knitting and crochet always travel with me.  That's the beauty of these two and I love the fact of its portability.  Cocoons are popular with photographers and my daughter shared with me that they are to be used with premies or newborns up to 2 weeks when it's easier to manipulate them.  I call this green one, Mossy Cocoon.

This one is made with the same type yarn in Taupe.  The yarn is rustic looking yet very soft which will delight baby.

Same design, different green color yarn, very soft to the touch.  This yarn is also very stretchy.  Cocoon measures unstretched 17" but will stretch to more than 20".  I am pleased with the different color accents that this yarn offers.

This is the oval cocoon made with easy care chunky acrylic yarn.

This beautiful picture was taken by my daughter.  She used the mossy cocoon.

Eco Friendly Cotton Crochet Cloth

This flower dish cloth was the perfect project to work on during my recent trip.  I really like this pattern because once finished it is perfect to wrap a small gift or a nice bar of soap.

Ribbon or twill tape strung through each loop holds this eco-friendly package that is sure to delight the recipient.

The pattern for this cloth can be found in the booklet published by Lily Sugar and Cream Kitchen Colors.

The Packhouse Room at the Bed and Breakfast.

We spent our second night in the Packhouse room at Big Mill Bed and Breakfast because the Mardi Grass was already reserved for someone else.  A long time ago the Packhouse served as a Barn.

The beautifully decorated great room.

The Patio just outside the main entranceLook carefully...Kevin would sit in the breezeway of the nearby building because he got a better wireless internet signal.  He did not even mind the cold.  Andrea called that outside room his office.

The morning Taite came to visit we took a walk across Big Mill.

Staying at Big Mill was an experience I will always cherish.  Meeting Chloe the owner was very special too.  I just loved all her special details.  She is an excellent cook.  I have already checked her website where you can find some of her recipes.  She would bring us the breakfast food for the next day in the evening. Thank you Chloe for making our stay at your Bed and Breakfast memorable.  Kevin enjoyed it very much too.

Getting spoiled at Big Mill Bed and Breakfast

Chloe, the owner of Big Mill Bed and Breakfast makes the best quiche.  She brings our breakfast food the night before around 7 - 8 p.m.  The first day we also enjoyed delicious yellow squash bread.

We had a choice of three different kinds of coffee.  Eight o'clock coffee was my favorite.  Starbucks Brand coffee was also available.

We spent the first night in the Mardi Grass room.  This is the view from the great room.

Wireless Internet allowed Kevin to watch his favorite shows on Hulu, while Cliff checked his e-mail, etc...The beautiful picture above the mantle is a Georgia O'Keeffe print.
The antique bathroom with original fixtures.  This bathroom takes back in time.  Cliff commented that a tall person might find this bathroom too small.  People were much smaller back then.  I had no trouble since I'm only 5 feet tall.

Fall Festival at West End Baptist Church

Last night we went to the West End Baptist Church where Travis my son in law is the pastor.  The kids are very much into super heroes.  The church had games and activities for the children in the community.  Caleb and Taite have a sweet tooth just like their daddy...mommy too, I guess.  Travis said they just wanted to sit down and eat candy.  Taite, wearing the blue cape was Batman and Caleb Spiderman.  Taite worked hard trying to open his Smarties.

Caleb - Spider Man

Isn't he the cutest Batman you ever saw.  I think he's trying to open his smarties in the picture too.

Andrea painted lots of kids faces---at least one adult lady.

Internet is slow -- More pictures later on....
